Tech🧑‍ Jack Dorsey’s Twitter competitor Bluesky has been continuously gaining steam against the bird app in recent weeks. But beyond being “decentralized”, the app itself isn’t all that different from Twitter. What’s driving its gains is simply a desire for something new. As a founder, the BlueSky craze is confirmation that you need to be building an email list to withstand the fickle nature of social media. Venture Capital 💵 Last edition we discussed the significant slowdown in both VC fundraising and investment. Now, we have confirmation that venture debt is also freezing up to its lowest levels since 2017. This is obviously not good for startups, as that is another key form of financing that is virtually nonexistent at the moment. TLDR: Put your bootstrapping hat on for the foreseeable future.

Startups🏢 Everybody knows that Big Tech has been on a layoff spree over the past ~12 months. Over 100,000 tech workers were laid off in January of this year alone. Fortunately, it looks like many of these layoffees are finding a new home: startups. In other words, this is a great time to be a startup founder looking to scale your team, especially if you are fractionally bootstrapping.
